I think the trend of grown women wearing clothing that they would have worn as a little kid is super interesting and I reject the idea that it’s at all “antifeminist” or that it infantilizes women … bc it represents a desire to return to the most carefree and magical part of girlhood, which is ruled by comfort, made for play and inspires unrestrained self expression! it is not intended to appeal to men, does not have a whiff of sex appeal! Its appeals instead to a private and joyful fantasy, I think we all remember a time where a clip or a cape was a talisman that inspired hours of enthusiastic make believe games… dressing ourselves as whimsically and comfortably as we would our own child is a way of nourishing our creative and ebullient inner selves !! I’m so here for it!
“I’m a makeup artist and I also work at Housing Works curating high end women’s designer clothing for events like A Current Affair and the events at our stores. Everything I have on is Issey Miyake. That’s my favorite designer and I created my personal style around his designs especially the Pleats Please.”
